Banaue Viewpoint Rice Terraces

This point looks down on mud terracing. It is a perfect spot on top of a plateau for taking pictures of the rice terraces with a larger deeper magnitude. Several souvenir items like those that are found in the town center such as woodcarvings, hand woven materials, Banaue printed shirts and other products of the villagers are on sale. Before reaching the main viewpoint, one can have a chance to stop-by and take photographs of the rice terraces in different angles at these 3 stop points; the Side-view Deck, the Aguian View Deck and the Dayanara Torres View Deck.

Batad Village and Rice Terraces

This is one of the typical villages of Banaue with an amphitheatre shaped terraces. This can be traverse by foot on mountain trail in about two(2) hours gradual trek from the junction or one hour trek from the saddle point for a better appreciation of the village, people and the culture. More than the view of the rice terraces, one can have a chance to visit and swim at Tappiyah Waterfalls.

Bangaan Village and Rice Terraces

The panoramic view of the village and the rice terraces is best viewed along the side of the road in which one can just stand by the roadside and idle his time gazing at the fascinating environs. The main village can be reach about 25 minutes by foot from the road level on descending steps. The cluster terraces of Bangaan is an alternative for those who can’t make the two (2) hours trek to Batad.

Tappiyah Waterfalls

This phenomenal waterfall with a natural huge swimming pool located in Batad has 70 meters fall. It will take about 30 minutes of your time to reach the falls while at the main Village of Batad. A visit to Batad Village and Rice Terraces would be incomplete without seeing this stunning waterfall.

Guihob Natural Pool

ETHNIC VILLAGES


Cambulo Village

A place rarely explored by tourist that served as the second leg of the “Batad Amphitheater Trek”. Aside from the lodges and inns present in this place, this cobblestone village offer native homestay to trekkers who want to feel the warm and friendly atmosphere among the old and the young village people. This is one beautiful place due to its fascinating stone walled terraces and preserved Ifugao Typical Houses.

Tam-an Village

This village of weavers showcasing back strap weaving, located conveniently behind Banaue Hotel, it is 240 steps down from the hotel’s swimming pool. Woodcarvings and woven products are also being sold as souvenirs.

Bocos Village

The village is the last leg of the “Bannawor Trail Trek” which is noted for one particular cluster of Ifugao houses.

Poitan Village

A village that retained much of its traditions and beliefs, located at a bottom of a trail which turns of the national road and leads down hill through cemented foot trail. This village boasts the magnificently lined Ifugao huts on mountain slopes, a legendary “stone post” protected by the villagers and a pit where elders gather to discuss tribal problems

Pula Village

This is a rustic village that serves as the first stop over of the “Batad Amphitheater Trek”. Homestay is offered by the local people to trekkers.  Exploring this place, one can have a chance to see the rare and indigenous ornamental plants and ancient craft of the bark cloths worn by the villagers aside from its rice terraces, the Ifugao native houses and the warm hospitality of the village people.

Matanglag Blacksmith

In this small village/sitio of Barangay Bocos you can observe smiths producing or finishing native jewelries such as good luck emblems and traditional rice god – “bulul” using only crude and almost primitive tools.

Banaue Ethnic Village and Pine Forest Resort

This privately owned resort sits in what locals known as “Apar Nga’-o’”, tucked well away from the busy town center and roads. The wide spaces, pine trees and the natural cold climate make it a perfect get away for camping and a retreat area for individuals and groups. The evolution of the Ifugao Native Houses in their open show area with some local weavers and carvers are also interesting to gaze at.


Museums

The Banaue Museum and the Museum of Cordillera Sculpture have sizable collection of old Ifugao photographs, range of Ifugao and Cordillera antiques and historic artifacts that includes beads, baskets, pottery, woodcrafts and hand woven materials. All depict various aspects of Ifugao and Cordillera history and material culture.

FESTIVITY


The Banaue Imbayah Festival is the most awaited and the grandest festival in the province of Ifugao. The Imbayah is a prestige rite of passage to nobility in the olden times traditionally performed by the elite people of the town. At present, it is a traditional celebration that highlights the continuing revival of the town’s culture.During the interval years when the “Imbayah Festival” is not celebrated, the “Urpih” which is an annual town fiesta will be observed. This is celebrated every fourth Friday of April showcasing the Ifugao culture through the different ethnic sports activity to make the community realize the importance of their identity.

You may also visit Banaue Hotel for a night entertainment of cultural dances and songs at 8:30 in the evening.
